A solid mineral object which may be igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic in origin.
How that relates to music et cetera et cetera escapes me at the moment...

Scotz,
By beating a "rock" on a hollow log, a beat may be established.
By a number of people beating a "rock" on a hollow log or three, contrapuntal beats
may be established, leading to sex in the outside world, or dancing in the bible belt.
BTW, the best points on record needles were made of diamond, making Beethoven and
his fellow classicists maybe rock musicians?

Oldfart,
I always believed that. Sooner or later, the word was bound to get out.

I had already remembered the old cartoon from Mad Magazine, depicting the origins of music (stick against rock, rock against stick, rock against head...until, about 10,000 BC, orchestras were formed...)
Incidently, in these parts, some Southern Baptists always leave their shades up when having sex, so people won't think they're dancing...
As to whether Ludwig & his contemporaries were the rockers of their day, Mr. Twain once said of the music of Richard Wagner, "It's not nearly as awful as it sounds..."
Just a few random neural firings from the Scotzophrenic mind...

Depends on what kind of "rock" you mean.
Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody"
AC/DC "Back in Black" or "You Shook Me All Night Long"
Bob Seger "Main Street"
Van Halen "Running With The Devil"
Scorpions "No One Like You"
Phil Collins "Susudio"
Led Zeppelin "Kashmir"
Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb"
And others too numerous to mention. Hope to be back soon. Couldn't resist the question.

MY personal faves
I guess my personal favorites would be:
"Eruption" - Van Halen
"Born In A Burial Gown" - Cradle of Filth
"Sharp-Dressed Man" - ZZ Top
"No Leaf Clover" - Metallica
"Lithium" - Nirvana
"Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" - Dimmu Borgir
"Sober" - Tool
"Schism" - Tool
"Judith" - A Perfect Circle
"Closer (Trance Remix)" - Static-X and NIN
I have many more favorites, but by the time I finished listing them, my pubes would've overtaken the entire state of Virginia.
