Simon Cowell isn't a jackass. He's honest. I have to say that I rarely disagree with him, and when he does say something really cutting, it's usually after someone has not got the message when he told them nicely the first time around.
Admittedly he's pretty blunt, but that's pretty much what us Brits are like.
