Our city is, at the end of this month, going onto Level 5 water restrictions and it is no joke let me tell you

No held held hosing (current)
No watering systems not approved by council (current)
No watering systems approved by council
No watering by bucket/watering can (currently can on Wed, Fri & Sun)
No new turf (current)
No special watering permits (current)
No cleaning of paved areas (current)
No vehicle washing (current, windows only and must be by bucket only)
No washing of buildings (current)
No filling of swimming pools or outdoor spas

We are known as the Garden City, but there are none, the council had to remove all the flower beds and put in coloured gravel/stones or bark

This is the state of my lawn...i dont think it will recover this time

Its just a dust bowl....and the majority of lawns are in the same state...as we are not permitted to water them

We go to vote on bringing in recycling of waste water (24%) in a few weeks...our dams are at around 20% capacity....enough water to last til around 2008-10....tis a scary thought for a city our size to run out of water let me tell you

Sharni, that's terrible. We're in good shape in comparison, although we also are experiencing something of a drought. We got more than an inch and a half a few days ago and already the ground is dry again. But, the Illinois river and some of the other water storage facilities are doing okay so far.

Seems so unfair that some areas bake while others can't hardly get rid of all their water there's been so much.

Hope you get some rain soon. We'll keep you guys in our thoughts. (You were already, but now even more so.)

(((( HUGS ))))
