dicksbro 10-25-2008 03:31 AM

It's only 43F right now, but it's suppose to get up to 58F with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Not bad for late October.

Booger 10-25-2008 11:59 AM

cold wet and soggy

Oldfart 10-25-2008 10:00 PM

Still hot, still humid.

scotzoidman 10-25-2008 10:19 PM

Yesterday (Friday) was cool & rainy, today clear & cooler still...just cool enough to turn my voice froggy if I stay out in it long enough (& trust me, my "Lurch" voice is a marvel of nature when I get scratchy enough).

IM1469 10-27-2008 06:47 PM

Monday 10/27. Cold Northwest air mass dropping temps to around 30, wind chill in the 20's. Tomorrow snow showers with snow tomorrow night with accumulations of 2 to 3 inches by Wed. morning. Ah yes, winter has arrived in the mountains of PA.

Scarecrow 10-27-2008 08:40 PM

Overnigh low 24f, there will be more than frost on the Pumpkins.

dicksbro 10-30-2008 05:40 AM

38F right now but climbing up to 66F today. Sounds great to me. :)

dicksbro 11-30-2008 09:23 AM

Low 30s and snowing with 5 to 7 inches expected accumulation by tomorrow morning. Pretty, but wet and heavy looking. Guess that'd been good for making a snowman, but I don't look forward to the shoveling. :(

Oldfart 11-30-2008 10:38 AM

Hight 20s heading for mid 30s tomorrow. C.

Scarecrow 11-30-2008 05:17 PM

About the same as DB, just 3 to 5 inches of snow for us.

Oldfart 11-30-2008 05:58 PM

Still waiting.

dicksbro 12-01-2008 04:19 AM

It actually snowed pretty good all day yesterday ... but the streets and grounds were still warm enough that a lot of the snow melted. Maybe had 3 or so inches when I went to bed last night. Another inch or so was expected today. First snows are always kind of pretty.

scotzoidman 12-12-2008 11:41 AM

A sudden (& unpredicted) snowstorm hit us here last night, & I got caught out in it. What should have been a 2 1/2 hr trip (at most) instead took four terrifying hours off of my life. :car:  I'm afraid I may have snapped at the asst to the driver supe that made the mistake of calling me about my schedule tomorrow while I was desperately trying to survive tonight. :ranting: I may owe someone an apology.

The weirdest part is that there's a clearly visible line dividing those who got heavy snow from those who got none, & the line runs right thru Metro Nashville, SW to NE...& this time it's us to the south of the line that got dumped on...

I think the supermarkets are the most upset about the lack of warning; in these parts, people flock to the Kroger store to stock up on bread & milk if there's even a whisper about "snow"...

Lord Snow 12-12-2008 11:51 AM

Scotz, I think the main problem you had was you were in Nashville. I drove to Murfreesboro and back and didn't that many problems. Only two in fact, and it was the first time I drove in the snow. You're right though, people around here buy the oddest things for bad weather. They should be stocking up on lamp oil/candles, can soups, bread is fine, just about any kind of food that doesn't need to be kept cool. That way if the power goes out, you're not opening the fridge and freezer all that much. Also, you have no way of cooking it in the first place really. Unless you have a wood stove.

Mae 12-12-2008 02:59 PM

Temp dropping here in ABQ. Strong possiblity of moderate snow and heavy winds through Tuesday, commencing tonight. Chihuahua will get lost in the back yard, again, for sure.

FlirtWithMe 12-12-2008 03:19 PM

About an inch of snow here, and just below freezing :)

The initial part of my trip started at home on the south side, to the I-24/Harding area, then to Murfreesboro Rd (Edge-o-Lake area), which was where I saw the worst of the weather. My journey went thru downtown to the west side, where it was "Snow? What snow?!?" Weirdest weather I've ever seen, & after five decades in Gnashville, that's sayin' sumpin'.

The main source of terror was the other drivers...I got front-wheel drive, and lots of experience with the worst this town has to offer, but getting stuck behind some yucklehead that thinks if he just guns the engine harder, the wheels will stop slipping....great googlymoogly, that's scary...

dicksbro 12-18-2008 07:24 AM

Temperatures today are expected to be in the low 30s, but this afternoon we're expecting an ICE STORM! :( 1/4 to 1/2" accumulation expected. Kind of hope they're wrong and we don't get any.

Oldfart 12-18-2008 05:23 PM

dicksbro 12-19-2008 04:36 AM

Well, looks like everything is covered with at least 1/4" of ice this morning. Pretty soon (when it gets light out) I'll have to get some salt spread on the sidewalks and maybe do some work to get the cars "de-iced" so the doors will open. Probably won't want to really drive anywhere for a while. :(

At least it doesn't look like limbs have broken or that power has failed (knock on wood).

shadowsfate 12-19-2008 07:53 AM

Looks like I was more fortunate than you, dicksbro. My part of Iowa got missed by the ice, but we got plenty of snow. Enough that, currently, school is two hours late (and on the one day my son really really wanted school to be on time, since today is the last day before Christmas vacation and they were planning a party) and getting out of my parking lot is going to be interesting, to say the least.

dicksbro 12-19-2008 11:40 AM

Just went out (had a haircut appointment). Ice is reasonably thin and I was able to chip it off the windows and doors of the car with no problem. Streets were more slush than ice and so weren't hard to drive on. Thank heavens.

Branches are hanging low, but few broken that I could see.

I think we were lucky. :wish:

Rhiannon 12-19-2008 12:44 PM

ice this morning no changing to rain thank goodness

Lord Snow 12-19-2008 01:29 PM

Nothing but rain the past couple days down here in Tennessee. Same in Alabama. I miss the snow.

shadowsfate 12-19-2008 01:48 PM

Lord Snow, I'll gladly give you the 11 inches of snow NW Iowa got last night, I'm tired off it already :roflmao:

We have about the same as you but it is suppose to drop to 20F (-7C) then to the low teens over the weekend and stay there (-9C) for a few days.

*runs to find his ice skates*

IAKaraokeGirl 12-19-2008 06:51 PM

Ice skates? I'm thinking of looking into cross-country skis. I'm wondering where in the 6-10 inches of snow we're supposed to get tonight we'll end up, especially in light of the snow/sleet/ice we're due to get Sunday/Sunday night.

I'm ready for winter to be over, thank you very much. (IAKG ignores the fact winter hasn't even officially begun...)

Lord Snow 12-19-2008 07:05 PM

It's December, how has it not officially begun? Shadows, I would love to have that 11 inches of snow you got. As it is, it looks like I'm in for a green Christmas.

scotzoidman 12-19-2008 11:04 PM

I was figuring on a grey Christmas, with the constant rain...but today I had to do something I haven't had to do in a while; I had to wear my sunglasses.

FlirtWithMe 12-20-2008 02:29 AM

Too warm for the time of year, muddy, grey, wet and dreary :bang head:

Dicksbro, I love that last pic you posted, with the ice on the fence, it's really pretty

Winter begins about 07:00 on December 21 this year. ;)

dicksbro 12-20-2008 05:13 AM

It's 29F under cloudy skies ... but the high for today is only predicted to be 30F and then drop down to 1F tonight. :( Snow this afternoon, although I haven't heard how much yet. Then tomorrow, the high will only reach 4F and drop to -3 tomorrow night. :(

Oldfart 12-20-2008 08:25 PM

Why dicksbro, that almost sounds like winter.

Oh? You're familiar with the concept? ;)

Oldfart 12-21-2008 01:08 AM

Only theoretically.

Mind you, we get down to 16 or 17C here during a bad winter.

dicksbro 12-21-2008 04:38 AM

Currently, it's -2F with light snow. And I'm suppose to go help cook breakfast at our chuch this morning (about 3 1/2 hours from now). Brrrrrr. Glad we're not doing it outside on the grill. :)

dicksbro 12-24-2008 05:31 AM

Got more freezing rain and snow last night and more expected tonight. Anyone that forgot to get ice cubes for your Christmas party, this is the place to be. :(

PantyFanatic 12-24-2008 10:50 AM

:line:

It's 42F (5C) today. :D

First time it has been above stiff water in over ten days. I'm looking for palm trees out the window after the 3F (-16C) the night before last.

;)

Lilith 12-24-2008 10:55 AM

63 here 76 to be the high. Jus' sayin'
