I'll add my hope that you get a new one or get yours repaired soon, GG.

gekkogecko 06-17-2020 06:07 AM

Still no hot water; repair dude who showed up yesterday didn't have the correct parts for our model. Should be fixed by the time I get home from work today, but these cold showers are ridiculous.

dicksbro 06-18-2020 02:40 AM

We'll keep our fingers crossed!

gekkogecko 06-18-2020 06:34 AM

Yes, I do have hot water again. Major relief.

Happy solstice, which means happy summer in the Northern hemisphere if you recognize a four-season year, happy midsummer in the Northern hemisphere if you recognize a two-season year, or happy winter in the Southern hemisphere (I am unaware of any Southern hemisphere culture that recognizes a two-season year, feel free to correct me if I am misinformed.)

dicksbro 06-23-2020 04:10 AM

Well, yesterday my wife and I celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary. Had a sign in the back window of our car … "JUST MARRIED 57 Years Ago."

Congratulations on 57 yrs. :line: :line:

dicksbro 06-24-2020 03:37 AM

Thank you, jay-t. Appreciate that. She's still my bride.

Good to see you.

gekkogecko 06-28-2020 09:19 AM

I think I'l echo and expand DB's thought, Goofy. The main thing is to stay safe. Take care of yourself.

dicksbro 07-01-2020 01:38 AM

Well, in two days it'll be the Mrs. birthday; then, for 15-days we'll be "the same age."

They always shoot off fireworks either the night of her birthday or the next day. Quite a celebration. :D

gekkogecko 07-01-2020 05:52 AM

Happy Canada Day, peeps!

Goofy 07-01-2020 05:10 PM

I ain't too up on Canada ... what's Canada Day anywho?

I is real sorry to our friends to da north.

dicksbro 07-02-2020 01:45 AM

Goofy ... What does Canada Day represent? Canada Day is observed in Canada in commemoration of the formation of the Dominion in 1867. on July 1, the anniversary of the day in 1867 when Canada became the first British colony to receive dominion status.

dicksbro 07-03-2020 01:33 AM

Today's my wife's birthday and for the next 15 days we'll be the same age. Then, I'll jump back in the lead. :)

gekkogecko 07-03-2020 09:42 AM

(congratulatory head bobs) to Mrs. DB for surviving another year. Not everyone does that, you know.

gekkogecko 07-03-2020 09:44 AM

And a separate post, because it's entirely different from the post I just made. There's a friend of mine who maintains a quote of the day file. Today's offer is certainly food for thought:

"If you're baffled at all these people refusing to wear masks, in 1865 they threw the doctor that recommended handwashing in an insane asylum and then beat him to death." -- Jesse Case (@jessecase), 2020-06-26 (referring to Ignaz Semmelweis (b. 1818-07-01, d. 1865-08-13), whose story is worth knowing), with a separate link to the referenced story:

^^^^ Interesting. Surprised I hadn't seen this before. Amazing the things we can learn here at Pixies. :D

gekkogecko 07-09-2020 06:05 AM

Ennio Morricone has died!
https://www.npr.org/2020/07/06/5168...west-dies-at-91

Now, where will I get the theme and background music for my upcoming spaghetti western?

dicksbro 07-10-2020 12:35 AM

He'll live in our hearts as long as those movies exist anyway. He was truly a remarkable composer for theme music. May he rest in peace.

It is said that if, every day, you eat a live frog for breakfast, nothing worse will happen to you or the frog for the rest of the day.
This is true for the frog.
You, however, can still be eaten by the frog's giant, vengeful brother.

dicksbro 07-14-2020 11:55 PM

In order that the title of this thread "Tell me something" is fulfilled ...

Whew! Finally.

I'll try to watch this when I wake back up. Getting sleepy now, so I think I'll give up for now and try again later. Should be interesting.

Thanks.

Sobek, the ancient Crocodile Lord, was later syncretized with Ra & Osiris, the sun gods that were, at some point themselves syncretized into each other. According to: https://ancientegyptonline.co.uk/so... 20his%20sweat.

"a number of rulers incorporated him in their coronation names, including the first fully attested female pharaoh – Sobekneferu."

In Space News, the US's first water landing in 45 years of a crewed vessel occurred yesterday. SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsuled returned Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to Earth in an absolutely flawless performance.

In less appealing news, Rene Carpenter, the ex-wife of Mercury astronaut Scott carpenter, died last Friday. She was 92. Rene was a science writer, founding member fo the "Astronaut Wives Club", covered many of the space race high points for TV, and active in politics.

jennaflower 08-04-2020 08:29 PM

TikTok has become my guilty pleasure. Yep.. sure has.

dicksbro 08-15-2020 12:33 AM

Rene Carpenter, may you rest in peace.

gekkogecko 08-26-2020 06:08 AM

I have to drop off my lizard at the vet this afternoon for minor surgery.

Goofy 08-27-2020 10:33 AM

We be thinkin' of yer friend n wez all hope it all go gud.

gekkogecko 08-28-2020 09:56 AM

It went well, but like all pets everywhere throughout all time, he doesn't want to take his follow-up meds.

dicksbro 08-29-2020 04:20 AM

Can you mix them in with something he will eat?

gekkogecko 08-29-2020 08:33 AM

He eats crickets, mealworms, & superworms. Once a week. And not even all that is offered, all the time. And it's liquid enrofloxacin. And it needs to be administered twice a day.

Yeah, not happening.

gekkogecko 09-07-2020 06:09 AM

Happy "We're-afraid-of-socialism, but-we-have-to-pretend-we-like-the-working-class" day her ein the US, people.
