Be fun to watch that first test flight, won't it?

gekkogecko 03-01-2019 10:42 AM

It would be. A lot of these things are webcast live, now I'm going to go check and see if this one is.

Oooooh, the answer is: YES!: https://www.space.com/how-to-watch-...-1-mission.html

dicksbro 03-02-2019 02:07 AM

Should be good. Space-X has sure come a long way in a relatively short period of time. Impressive company.

gekkogecko 03-02-2019 12:12 PM

I did not stay up to watch it live-0200 is a bit much for me, but the coverage here: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/20...i-live-coverage said the launch went well. Couple of more hurdles to jump, but it's looking good.

dicksbro 03-03-2019 03:39 AM

Anxious to see more on the launch and how it all goes. Thanks for the update … I couldn't stay awake for it either. :(

gekkogecko 03-03-2019 01:59 PM

Successfully passed another milestone, autonomous docking (previous dockings with the International Space Station have been done with the assistance of the ISS's robot arm):

dicksbro 03-04-2019 12:43 AM

Hip Hip Horray! Sounds like everything went off without any hitch.

gekkogecko 03-04-2019 10:57 AM

There's still a big milestone to pass...the re-entry test, in just under two weeks now. It's a bit tricky, as the Crew Dragon is asymmetrical. But we'll find out what effect that has on re-entry when they do the test.

dicksbro 03-05-2019 03:12 AM

We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Goofy 03-08-2019 12:27 AM

I'll keep ma' paws crossed, too. Gwarsh, kind of excitin' if I do say so myself.

dicksbro 03-08-2019 02:27 AM

Hey, Goofy. Good to see you. We've missed you.

Anyway, I'll be heading to my cancer doctor in Peoria today to get the results of the CT scan I just had. Will let everyone know when I get the results.

dicksbro 03-08-2019 02:33 AM

Say, do you know what's going to be happening in just …

6 DAYS?

It's the annual … March 14th …

STEAK AND A BLOWJOB DAY

Time to start thinking about how you'll celebrate the day. :D

Yes, please do.

My girlfriend (I won't mention which one) often feeds the neighborhood stray cats. She's somewhat possessive of them.

Yesterday, she watched one of 'her' cats get hit by a car. Said cat threw up blood, then ran off; and she can't find him. Super suck-tastic.

gekkogecko 03-08-2019 04:38 PM

And Crew Dragon pass the final hurdle of it's test flight:

So much good space stuff happening lately.

dicksbro 03-09-2019 04:43 AM

YEA! The CT scan revealed no trace of cancer and a new set of blood tests were also negative!

Thanks for your good thoughts and prayers! They are appreciated!

gekkogecko 03-09-2019 11:11 AM

Excellent news, DB.

jay-t 03-09-2019 11:32 PM

Good news DB

dicksbro 03-10-2019 02:25 AM

HAPPY STEAK AND A BLOWJOB DAY FOR 2019

Kind of the male equivalent of Valentine's Day flowers for the ladies. :)

Hope your day will be enjoyable by all who celebrate … giving or receiving.

HAVE FUN!

Goofy 03-14-2019 03:04 AM

Close behind you today, DB. Love this "holiday." Wishin' I had the day off so's I could enjoy it all day long with Clarabelle.

gekkogecko 03-14-2019 03:53 AM

Happy Pi day everyone.

Goofy 03-15-2019 01:23 AM

Hope yuz had one, too!

dicksbro 03-22-2019 11:32 PM

Not sure what's on deck for today. Guess I'll just play it by ear.

gekkogecko 03-23-2019 10:32 AM

My visit with the spine-dude the other day resulted in a recommendation for a new drug, and an epidural steroid injection. Have already scheduled that for 8 April.

dicksbro 03-24-2019 02:42 AM

We'll keep up the good thoughts and prayers that the new drug will have the desired results! :boink:

gekkogecko 03-24-2019 10:28 AM

Mext "out" activity for me is a couple of local game conventions: I'm running a Diplomacy game and a Wings of Glory game at the first one; the second I'm part of the Mega-Civilization game. Middle & end of April, respectively.

dicksbro 03-24-2019 09:17 PM

Sounds like fun. Wish it were close enough that I could make it.

Me too DB.

gekkogecko 03-25-2019 10:42 AM

There are gaming conventions in both your areas, though.

Yes I would guess theres a few places we could go, but then we wouldn't see you. What fun would that be?

dicksbro 03-25-2019 10:49 PM

There used to be one held at a local junior college but I haven't seen an ad for it the last couple of years Age is working a bit against me but if I were there, I'd definitely stop in to meet you and maybe jseal. Hope the gaming conventions in your area will be great!

dicksbro 04-07-2019 01:31 AM

Had a nice … warm … sunny day yesterday. Got a few things done outside and my wife and I enjoyed some quiet time together. All things considered, I chalk it up as a winner!

gekkogecko 04-07-2019 11:53 AM

Commuter train back home yesterday was SRO, due tot he Cherry Blossom festival.

dicksbro 04-09-2019 01:41 AM

Yesterday was really a fantastically beautiful day. Warm, sunny but with just enough of a breeze to keep you comfortable. Loved it. Mother Nature … GOOD JOB!

gekkogecko 04-09-2019 07:01 AM

Kind freaked out the surgeon yesterday: every time he stuck me with the needle, it tickled, and I had trouble lying still so as to not jostle everything. he said it was a first for him.

Anyway, the medicos all said it should take the steroid 3-5 days to work, so we'll see what's what. In the meantime, I've managed to catch a cold.

dicksbro 04-09-2019 11:54 PM

Sorry about the cold but we'll keep hoping the treatment will be totally and unconditionally a success! :boink:

Goofy 04-19-2019 04:59 AM

I'll go along wit ol' DB on that. Wez gonna be thinkin' of ya', of dat ya kin be sure.

gekkogecko 04-19-2019 09:46 AM

Well, nothing but the lingering cough from the cold these days, my foot has stopped the tingling that it used to do. I still have the pains in my lower back & knee, but less than used to be there. I can get around, mostly.
