I enjoyed it for the effects, but the transformers themselves suddenly got very complicated. It was almost like they suddenly had scales and used them to transform instead of the blocky sections we knew from old.

Well, the first one did a much better job of that animation in my opinion. The thing that got to me about Revenge of the Fallen is that you had so many new Bots and you never got names for them. Like the cat Deceptacon, or the one that when you looked at it straight on you couldn't see it because it was that thin. Who are they? Why weren't they in the first one? Are they completely new bots that were "hatched" up in space or were they transformed by the Cube?

I got the impression that new Decepticons were being created.

I found out the name of the cat deceptacon. That was Ravage. The satellite was Soundwave. It still seems like unless you know exactly who the Bots are you're lost.

I can't honestly say that I can picture Optimus Prime saying something like "this morning I shot an elephant wearing my pajamas. What he was doing wearing my pajamas I may never figure out."

You can't picture him being occasionally grouchy?

Not in the Marks kind of sense.

Young man, you've stumbled onto the whole point of this exercise!

...having flashbacks of paying for the whole gd collection for #1 son, only to find they had introduced a whole new flock of robots.

But have they released any of the new Bots as toys? Only ones I've seen in the stores are big name ones. BumbleBee especially. I remember when it was all about Optimus.
