Ever been caught in a little white lie? Or maybe a bigger one?

What did you do to escape the wrath of the person who caught you?

Many of us tell them....
"No, I didn't eat the last cookie."
"Your butt looks FINE in those pants"
"I really enjoy spending time with your friend Sally"
"I've been to England several times...so just give me the highlights of your trip."

What happens when the truth comes out and you get caught?

You look like a liar.

I try to be honest so that it's not an issue. I will often refrain from saying anything to avoid a lie. That can at times appear rude.

Have I told white ones? yes. Have I been caught? yes. But I'm trying to learn from my mistakes.

You look like a liar.

:spin: For a minute, I thought you were telling me that the face pic I posted made me look like a liar. :yikes:

I find honesty is the best policy, too, Lil. But occasionally I forget and put my foot in it. :D

Oh me too. But really like I tell my kids, it may be a white lie to you but to others it's just a lie and all lying makes us look like liars.

You look beautiful. I didn't mean to make you think anything ugly.

I tend not to lie. This is partly because i just don't like doing it, but also partly because i have a bad memory. Once when my friend was pushing for a night out out with my wife and me, i was very honest in deed... (sorry but she really doesn't like you). It didn't go down well, but he would have kept on about it forever if i didn't say it.

When i will happpily lie, is when someone has particularly unrealistic expectations of me and without my best interests at heart.

Of course, if i am not asked a specific question, it is easy to simply not supply information :)

"Little white lies" are something I never really learned to do...like Lil said, if you say nothing, that appears rude, if you tell the truth, you're being hateful, if you try to be nice with a little white lie, you're being deceitful...the best I can do is warn friends & family to not ask me questions that they don't wanna hear the answer to ;)

Yes, I tell them from time to time to get out of sticky situations. However, if I think I would get caught, I tell the truth.

I consider myself an honest person, too. Maybe I'm not...

I suck at lying, but I'm real good in the diplomacy department!

I figure that it takes too much energy to perpetuate and remember a lie. Instead, if asked directly, I can say something without lying or hurting feelings. The truth is always easiest for me...with a little finesse if necessary!
