I think I have figured out what the problem is with my stories.....Much like my general passion for love making they run too long. I have been reading several stories here and find that most of what I have read are "quick read"and they have a large number of readers. Oh well...never have been to good at quickies.

I hear you, MasterScribe. The two I've posted here are quite long, but the one I'm writing just now is 15,000 words already, and I'm still only about half-way done! :(

You might try breaking your story into sections and wait a few days between posting each section ... I think it has to do with how many built in interruptions are part of the internet experience .... hard to focus on stories that are longer and so often as soon as someone looks and sees a long story they give up before they even start ... or it could be like Lil says ... if it is a really good story ...... :)

Did any of you read Stephen King's The Green Mile when it first came out? It was in serial form. I waited every month for the next one to come out, sooooooooooooooo anxious to read the next part. I'd buy it, read it the next day, and have to wait 30 more days for the next part. Part of the pleasure was the suspense, the agonizingly long wait til I could see what happened next. Sometimes teasing readers builds anticipation and can make a long story easier to digest.

Long stories need to be in chapters..........not one big long drawn out set of pages
It gives readers a set place that they can take a break if real life stuff needs doing....
