....home for a few days, time for the annual family trip down south. This year, however, we're back to taking one car (yikes) AND it looks like the weather's going to be fine, so no getting stuck in Branson in the middle of the drive down.
Happy Holidays to all, see you later....

I get the credit :) Afterall.. from that exit (during the day) I am only a breath away... Have a wonderful trip.. Hugs..

Stopped on the way down outside Ft. Leonard Wood, at a Cracker Barrel, and on the way back ...I'm trying to remember where we stopped for gas. Somewhere between Joplin and Springfield on 44. Whole family both times, both during the 11 hour trips. Maybe if I get a chance to go solo somewhere again, I'll stop and buy people lunch. Or something.

I didn't drive either direction. It was left (dramatic chord) to my Father.
Which ...isn't really a problem, if he'd stick to the PAVED HIGHWAYS AND NOT GO ON SCENIC DETOURS </rant>
I feel better now.

ELEVEN hours with your family? ONE WAY?
My uncle loves to go on scenic detours and my cousin still hasn't recovered, I feel your pain!

Considering the posted speed limits in Arkansas and Missouri are both 70 mph, 11 hours is about right for making that trip (which is not quite 700 miles).

On the plus side, my parents got one of the minivans with a DVD player, and so we watched the Blue Man Group concert DVD (The Complex) for a bit, but I also attempted to listen to things I wanted to listen to on my CD player, but got drowned out by the Chieftains or my mother's Christmas CDs in the van's stereo, even with the fade dial set to front speakers only. Oh well - it's over. But I guess that counts as a compromise.

Yes, I guess you could say all's well that ends well for another 12 months.
