Brahms lullaby: Lullaby lyrics
By Johannes Brahms
Lullaby, and good night, with pink roses bedight,
With lilies o'er spread, is my baby's sweet head.
Lay thee down now, and rest, may thy slumber be blessed!
Lay thee down now, and rest, may thy slumber be blessed!
Lullaby, and good night, your mother's delight,
Shining angels beside my darling abide.
Soft and warm is your bed, close your eyes and rest your head.
Soft and warm is your bed, close your eyes and rest your head.
Sleepyhead, close your eyes. mother's right here beside you.
I'll protect you from harm, you will wake in my arms.
angels are near, so sleep on, with no fear.
Guardian angels are near, so sleep on, with no fear.

Many people "piggyback" or make up lyrics to songs...especially something as personal as a lullabye. I will see if I can turn up lyrics that more closely resemble yours!

It took a while on google, but I did find one of the sets of original German lyrics:
Through a site that sells sheet music on Yahoo - This is the famous Brahms Lullaby, Op. 49, No. 4, in its original 1868 version for voice and piano. The first verse is taken from Das Knaben Wunderhorn; the second is by Georg Scherer.
Guten Abend, gute Nacht, mit Rosen bedacht,
mit Näglein besteckt, schlupf unter die Deck’
morgen früh, wenn Gott will, wirst du wieder geweckt,
morgen früh, wenn Gott will, wirst du wieder geweckt.
Guten Abend, gute Nacht, von Englein bewacht,
die zeigen im Traum dir Christkindleins Baum.
Schlaf nun selig und süß, schau im Traum’s Paradies,
Schlaf nun selig und süß, schau im Traum’s Paradies.

Word for word translation of the lyrics Dadaist found would be
With roses mindfully, with Naeglein, slip sticks good evening on, good night, under the deck? tomorrow early, if God wants, you are waked again, waked tomorrow early, if God wants, you again. Good evening, good night, by close flax guarded, those show in the dream you Christian child flax tree. Sleep now blessedly and sweetly, schau in the Traum?s paradies, sleep now blessedly and sweetly, schau in the Traum?s paradies.

Many people "piggyback" or make up lyrics to songs...especially something as personal as a lullabyeIt looks likes there are many different lyrics to this tune I did find the ones below which seem to match yours closely CP.
Try to sleep now
Close your eyes
Try to think of tomorrow
All the stars wish you goodnight
Now I'm switching off the lights
One more hug, one more smile
Kiss you once, kiss you twice
I'll be here for a while
Wont you sleep now and close your eyes

A more accurate translation:
Good evening, good night, with roses covering you, decorated with thorns - slip under the covers - early tomorrow, if God wishes it, you will be awakened again.
Good evening, good night, watched upon by angels, who show you in dreams the tree of the Christ child.
Sleep blessedly and sweetly, watching the paradise of dreams.

For a while, the babelfish service at altavista and h2g2 online pointed at each other, but I don't think this is any longer the case. Probably a mutual decision. At least DNA had given it his blessing.
