A co-worker of mine and I got into a discussion as to what things we were truly scared of now that we are older. When I was in my teens and 20's, getting someone pregnant was my biggest one, but I left that one by the way-side. I have never been scared of monsters, dark or anything like that (actually was a bit of freaky kid and like to sleep in my closet where there was no light).

I came to the conclusion that the scariest thing I know of now is when the women here at work put there hand on their hip and wag the other one at you.....*shivers*....women scorned....BEWARE!!!

Meetings scare me.......and being on time for them too! (inside joke, as I check my watch)

Um.......OK........I've said it before but I'll say it again......

If I were in a moving vehicle and going the speed of sound and a wasp or hornet was lurking and suddenly flew at me or landed on me..........I would jump from said vehicle, no hesitation!

In the warmer months at work, they leave the bay doors open and all kinds of flying creepies fly into my office! I have been known to run, screaming (squealing actually) from my room and right out the door! They've gotten so used to this behavior that the people I work with just turn and explain to the new employees just exactly what I am doing. Then some guy will go and find the culprit and come and get me when it's dead.

HEY! Don't laugh! I work with a girl who has an actual phobia for "little people". So much so that she won't go out Christmas shopping because, sometimes, "little people" play elf to certain store Santas and she says she ALWAYS seems to run into them around Christmas. I swear this to be true! For a while I had this idea that I would tease her and get on my knees and put my shoes in front of my knees and call her attention to me......but as she told me of her terror whenever she sees a midget or dwarf....and how she feels so horrible about how she reacts to them........I decided I better not tease her so. I know that terror......but with me it's wasps and hornets!

Lixxy, I don't like buzzing insects either. I will pretty much have a hissy if one buzzes me :D
Speaking in front of a group of people makes me feel rather ill as well. I get all dizzy and can't remember what I said (never a good thing)
Lilith, I guess Signs did you in, then :D

The only thing that scares the hell out of me is that Iggy might die over in Iraq, he is 30 miles west of Baghdad:( Other then that nothing scares me. I love watching horror movies in the dark and was very disappointed with The Ring.

What scares me is the thought of my husband finding out about Murphy and me. And the idea that we may not find jobs before things start getting turned off.
I've never been afraid of bugs, spiders, the dark, scary movies or any of that stuff.

fears.. I have lots of them... but my worst fears are.....

The fear that I will someday have to deal with my parents dying (it is more like a natural unavoidable expectation.. that I dread)

The fear that I will be alone.... til the end

Needles
I will pass out if I have to get a shot.
My worst nightmare is one day I will be diabetic and have to have shots. The even worse part is their is a strong history of diabeates on both sides of my family.

Also am I the only one who is afraid that Lilith will use all of this info against us?

Please hear me when I say this, jenna.........(and ANYONE with both or one parent still living)..........I'ma gonna preach!

No matter what the stress you might feel from them.........no matter what the timing on a visit is.........no matter how much they try to instill that motherly/fatherly guilt in you ( and you know the guilt I mean) no matter if you think you can handle it or you think it will NEVER happen.........NO MATTER WHAT............

Each and everytime you hug them........hug them with all that you have!

We are born to only two parents. Adoption aside..........we get what we get! On our parents side....they get what they get. They do what they think is the best they can do. We try and ignore all they say.......till we are old enough to realize they actually knew their shit all along!

When you get to this point in your life......take a moment to say thank you to your parents............for actually getting though to you......no matter what they thought of you in the "60's.....70's......80's".......90's............let them know you finally "get it".......and hug the stuffins outta them!

A fear of death is so very understandable, jenna.............but if you prepare yourself..........(may sound weird, but it's a proven fact by my own experiences)........by just taking a moment to picture the time when you will have to look back on your own behavior at the time of losing a parent.............and imagine if you and he/she will have a peaceful feeling about it. Just be you with an extra special "ok.....I give up" kinda attitude!

Try and remember...............each and every day has something new to offer. Death and birth are part of those days........no matter if it's in your world or apart from where you are......it happens! What we do with that day is up to us.........no one else.......just us! And we have to live with that decision from that time on!

OK........I'm done and probably overdone ....as usual!

Stupid people in power.

That can refer to high political office, high positions in large corporations, or merely being in the majority....

agrees with SS....one of my fears is her husband finding out and knowing i knew something about that...as well as being left "in the dark" literally but of course the scariest thing is being at that point where you don't know what tomorrow is bringing...............................and bees.....oooh and if all else fails i will cry like a small child if i have to be around a clown...or in total darkness

Heights ...

Never bothered me as a kid but for some reason I now have a fear of heights. Now, if I'm in a building looking out a window, or, flying in a plane ... that's okay. But put me on a second floor open balcony and I get a real queezy feeling inside. I can force myself do deal with it, but don't like it a bit.

(sure hope this doesn't post at the TOP of the page. LOL. :D)

Bees, wasps, hornets and anything that can fly and sting/bite simultaneously. They have a decided biological advantage over me, and I don't much care for it. Buncha fuckin hellborne evil-launchers... *shudder*

Keep fuckin with me, woman, and I'm gonna hire Tim Curry to dress up in his Pennywise costume, hang out in yer closet, wait for you to sleep, then climb into bed and stare you down face-to-face till ya wake up.

Cabrylla
05-11-2003, 02:16 AM
now Tim Curry in my bed wouldn't be the worse thing i've ever had between the sheets...even if he is dressed as a clown *shudders* so peddle your mouth elsewhere monkeyboy...or you'll end up with a bundle of hornets in your boxer drawer....

Uncle Silky

*long pause... slowly blinks... drops the pimp hammer again* Why waste time with words when a quick, stinging backhand speaks higher volumes than the loudest, gruffest threat ever could?

Most scarey thing is

waiting on the adults to come and make (the situation)it all better~~~~~~~~~~then realising that you are the adult!

Right now I've got a big fear of failure...and I am yet another who gets freaked out by stinging/biting/slimy/creepy/crawly insects...

I would probably also panic if ever confronted by an angry German Shepherd...had a very scary incident as a child...

I'm going to have to say torture is the thing I fear most. Not that I will ever be in a position to be tortured but that would be it. And it isn't the pain part I fear but cracking and telling those who are torturing me what they want to know.

Strange I know.
